Privacy Policy

ArteloPlan is a collaborative travel-planning service. This policy describes the information used to provide the iPhone app and related Firebase-hosted service.
Information we collect
We collect account and profile information, trip plans, itinerary items, collaboration messages, expenses, notifications, and settings that you create. We collect files only when you choose them, including profile photos, trip photos or videos, voice notes, tickets, and documents. Firebase may process authentication, database, file storage, crash/security diagnostics, and push-notification delivery data on our behalf.
Artelo AI
Artelo AI is optional. The first time you use it, the app asks whether it may use Google's Gemini model. If you allow it, the text you type or dictate, text read on your device from photos you choose to scan, and details of the trip you are working on (such as dates, places, activities, budget totals and checklist items) are sent through Firebase AI Logic and Cloud Functions to Google's Gemini model on Vertex AI to generate a reply. Google processes this data on our behalf to produce the response and, under Google Cloud's terms, does not use it to train its models. Photos and voice recordings themselves are not sent to Gemini. If you choose "On-device only", or turn off "Use Google Gemini" under Artelo AI in Profile, requests stay on your device and use Apple's on-device model where your device supports it.
To keep Artelo AI reliable and safe, we store a record of each request (your request text, the trip context sent, the reply, and timing) in our Firebase project and keep it for up to 90 days. Firebase App Check, using Apple's App Attest or DeviceCheck, verifies that requests come from the genuine app.
Optional device permissions
Location is used only after you choose a map or explicitly start time-limited sharing with selected trip members; ArteloPlan does not request Always or background location. Photos are limited to items you select. The microphone is used only for user-started voice notes. Calendar access is requested only when you add an itinerary activity. Notifications are requested only when you enable reminders or collaboration alerts. Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo, which receives only the coordinates of the place you ask about. Apple Translation is used only for features you use, and private translation stays on-device when Apple supports it. You can change permissions in iPhone Settings.
Use, visibility, and sharing
We use information to sign you in, synchronize plans, provide collaboration, display maps and weather, answer Artelo AI requests you make, deliver requested reminders, protect the service, and respond to support requests. Trip content is visible only to the audience and members you choose; private documents and media are owner/member scoped. We do not sell personal information or use private trip content for advertising.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. You can delete your account from Profile. Account deletion removes the account and associated service data subject to backups, fraud-prevention records, and legal retention requirements. Contact us for access, correction, export, or deletion requests.
Children and security
ArteloPlan is not directed to children under 13. We use authentication, access rules, scoped storage paths, and reasonable safeguards, but no service can guarantee absolute security.
